| The directions of the stock price movement are determined by the dominant opinions (sentiment) of the market participants. For the 100 largest companies by market cap in SP 500, we extract and categorize sentiment about company earnings, products/services, industry trend, investor sentiment, analyst opinions, and more from available online information. For each sentiment category, we create a portfolio consisting of 10 equally weighted stocks with the highest sentiment score times attention. The sentiment scores are claculated on a -10 - 10 scale, and the attention is the percentage of media coverage for that sentiment category vs the total media coverage for a company. Every portfolio is rebalanced on the last trading day of each month. SPY returned 16.34% for 2025. The portfolio for Industry Trend sentiment category returned 58.89%, followed by 33.41% for Investor Sentiment, 23.81% for overall sentiment, 23.37% for Company Earnings, 19.25% for Products/Services, 15.14% for Analyst Opinions, and 14.21% for Stock Performance. | |||||||||||||
